1. Preventing the Claim: Cybersecurity, Dark Web Intelligence & AI Against Ransomware
Ransomware attacks rarely begin with encryption—they start with early cybersecurity breakdowns like exposed credentials, vulnerable systems, and access sold on criminal marketplaces. In this session, Eric Hendricksen and Sidd Gavirneni will dive into how cybersecurity teams and insurers can detect these early signals through dark-web monitoring, threat intelligence, and other proactive security tools. They’ll also highlight how emerging AI-driven cybersecurity technology strengthens defenses against phishing and social engineering. Attendees will gain practical insight into turning early cyber warning signs into stronger prevention strategies that reduce incidents and improve overall cyber resilience.

2. AI – Practical Implementation and Successes
From Hype to Production: Where AI Actually Works in Insurance (and Where It Doesn’t) AI dominates insurance conversations, yet many carriers struggle to move beyond pilots and proofs of concept. This session cuts through the noise by focusing on where AI is delivering measurable value today and where it continues to fall short. Drawing on real-world transformation and core system modernization efforts, this session explores how insurers are embedding AI into underwriting, claims, and operational workflows. Attendees will learn how to identify high-impact use cases, avoid common implementation pitfalls, and integrate AI into legacy-heavy environments without disrupting core operations. The session will also address a critical reality: not every problem should be solved with AI. Understanding when traditional rules engines, structured workflows, or human judgment outperform AI is key to achieving sustainable results.

The session will provide an insider’s look at the realities of the new Washington – the impact of Trump 2.0 and single party control with historically narrow majorities, and its impact on the policy issues most consequential to the insurance industry. He’ll also give a look ahead to the upcoming midterm elections.

4. Insurance Cycle Overview
This presentation explains how insurance markets move through recurring underwriting cycles using the Insurance Clock framework. It shows how capital availability, competition, and loss events drive markets from hard conditions with strong pricing to soft markets with excess capacity and weaker discipline. The presentation highlights why cycles persist despite industry awareness, including capital inflows, incentives for growth, and delayed loss recognition. Historical examples illustrate these dynamics across decades. It also emphasizes that different lines of business experience their own sub-cycles. The key takeaway is that successful insurers and reinsurers manage the cycle strategically—maintaining discipline in soft markets and deploying capital when conditions harden.

The session will also share takeaways from the recently conducted survey on opinions and insurance buying patterns of businesses.

2. Severity Trends in Casualty
Projecting loss trends in the post-COVID environment has become increasingly complex due to frequency distortions, delayed claims development from courtroom backlogs, and a sustained inflationary cycle from 2021 through 2024, with inflation remaining elevated relative to the low-inflation environment of the 2010s. At the same time, social inflation and legal system abuse continue to pressure loss costs, with only incremental tort reform achieved in select jurisdictions. This session will break down these evolving dynamics and assess their implications across key casualty lines, including commercial auto, personal auto, general liability, and umbrella/excess casualty. Attendees will gain practical insights to better evaluate severity loss trends, refine pricing assumptions, and strengthening reserving analysis in today’s environment.

4. Where AI Can’t Compete
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way organizations analyze information, make predictions, and streamline complex workflows. As powerful as these tools are, they also raise an important question: Where does technology stop and human judgment begin? In many of the most important moments at work, navigating uncertainty, making ethical decisions, communicating difficult information, or building trust with clients and colleagues, the capabilities that matter most remain deeply human. This session explores the critical skills that technology cannot replicate: sound judgment, emotional intelligence, ethical reasoning, and the ability to navigate complex human dynamics. Drawing from behavioral science, leadership development, and real-world facilitation experience with professionals in high-stakes industries, participants will explore how these human capabilities complement AI rather than compete with it. Attendees will leave with practical frameworks for strengthening the skills that remain essential in an increasingly automated world.

For many regional and mutual insurers, secondary perils such as severe convective storms, wildfire, and winter weather represent the largest source of catastrophe volatility. Managing these risks requires more than simply running catastrophe models. This session explores how insurers can identify secondary peril hotspots, interpret model results, and apply practical mitigation strategies across underwriting, portfolio management, and reinsurance purchasing. Mutual insurers operate within a delicate financial ecosystem where policyholder surplus, underwriting discipline, and risk transfer through reinsurance interact to support long-term solvency and growth. A panel of industry experts will share insights on the Strategic implications of reinsurance costs on mutual insurers from four perspectives: Credit Rating Agency (perhaps moderate?), Mutual Insurer, Reinsurer, and Broker.

3. Leading the Culture Behind Consistent Customer Service
Organizations across industries aspire to deliver excellent customer service, yet customers often experience inconsistency as they interact with different teams, processes, and partners. While individual departments may perform well, the overall experience can suffer when service approaches, priorities, and communication vary across the organization. Delivering consistent customer service requires more than well-designed processes, it requires leadership that fosters a shared culture, aligns teams around the customer experience, and creates accountability for service outcomes. This session explores the role leaders play in shaping the culture behind consistent customer service. Participants will examine how customer friction often emerges at internal handoffs between teams or external partners, and how leadership decisions influence collaboration, ownership, and accountability across the organization. Through practical examples and a simple mapping approach, attendees will learn how leaders can identify customer pain points, uncover service breakdowns, and create the alignment needed to deliver a more consistent and effective customer experience.

Room Rate: $305 per night plus tax, based on single/double occupancy.
NAMIC has contracted a room block at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. While the primary advantages of staying in NAMIC’s room block are the proximity to all convention functions and networking benefits, another indirect benefit is that NAMIC staff can assist you if you experience any problems with your reservation. Your participation in our group room block also helps to offset some of the meeting expenses that you would otherwise see in your convention registration fee.
Once you register for the Convention, you will receive a link in your confirmation email to make room reservations at the NAMIC group rate. The hotel block is filling up fast and availability to book a room at the group rate is limited. If you are unable to make a reservation, please email registrar@namic.org with your preferred arrival and departure dates to be added to the waitlist.
- Cutoff Date – August 27, 2026
- Cancel within 3 business days of arrival
- Marriott Reward loyalty program
- 4:00 p.m. check in and 11:00 a.m. check out
In addition to the room rate above, you will also pay a $20 resort fee per night, which includes:
- High-speed internet access in all guest rooms
- Complimentary use of the basketball & tennis courts
- Local, toll-free and domestic long-distance phone calls
- Complimentary use of hotel bicycles

FAQs
I am unable to attend the event in person. Is there an option to attend virtually?
No, this event is only being offered in-person.
What is the suggested attire for business and social gatherings?
Business casual attire is appropriate for all educational sessions, receptions, and meal functions.
If I already have my PFMM designation, do I have to attend the PFMM sessions?
If you are attending Convention for PFMM maintenance, you are welcome to attend any sessions you choose.
Do I have to attend the same type of session during every time slot?
No, you do not. The only sessions that are required are the PFMM courses for those who are working towards their PFMM designation. There does not have to be consistency in the types of sessions you choose to attend. We encourage you to attend courses that you will find most beneficial.
How do I obtain an advance copy of the attendee list?
In an effort to provide our sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, and attendees the best level of service, we will send an electronic list of current event registrants to the attendee or email listed as the main contact as follows:
- Attendees: A minimum of 10 days out from the event, in the pre-conference communication email;
- Sponsors: Approximately 60 days in advance of the event with paid sponsorship;
- Exhibitors: Approximately 30 days in advance of the event with paid booth registration; and
- Speakers: Approximately 30 days from the event.
Do I have to register for Convention to get a room in the official group room block?
Yes. The group room block has been negotiated with the designated Convention hotels for the benefit of registered attendees. We hope you will join us and be a part of the NAMIC community who have gathered over the Convention dates. If you attempt to reserve a room outside of NAMIC’s block, we are not able to assist you should you experience any problems with your reservation. We encourage you to reserve a room within the NAMIC block.
As a registered guest, what functions am I allowed to attend?
Registered guests are invited to attend the Chair’s Reception on Sunday evening, the Monday and Tuesday lunches, and the Wednesday Closing Celebration. Guests are also welcome at all general sessions.
What are the roundtable breakfasts that take place on Wednesday for the MID Certification, MIP Certification, and PCC Senior Executives? Can I attend?
These are three outstanding networking opportunities designed with specific audiences in mind. Individuals who have attained their Mutual Insurance Directors designation will be invited to attend a casual breakfast to connect with peers, foster new relationships, and share insights. The MIP Certification Roundtable Breakfast is for attendees who have attained their Mutual Insurance Professional certification. Likewise, the Property Casualty Conference Senior Executive Roundtable Breakfast is intended for the senior management of property/casualty primary insurance companies. This breakfast will have roundtable discussions on topics related to their operations and encourage the sharing of ideas. All three breakfasts will be by invitation only and are offered at no charge to the attendee thanks to generous sponsorship support.
How do I add Optional Activities to my registration?
