About
In 2012, NAMIC recognized the need for a scholarship program to support students seeking an undergraduate degree in the property/casualty insurance and/or risk management field. The NAMIC Mutual Insurance Foundation was then formally designated in March 2018 as a 501(c)(3) organization designed to help foster the continued growth of a strong, diverse, and invigorated mutual property/casualty insurance industry.
NAMIC Mutual Insurance Foundation Scholarship
The mutual property/casualty insurance industry offers a wide variety of career opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. Property/casualty insurance is not just for students on the traditional academic path toward degrees in insurance or risk management. There are also many opportunities for students pursuing general business, finance, computer technology, predictive analytics/modeling, and much more.
Fire Science Scholarship
The scholarship funds have been provided through the generosity of the Insurance Committee for Arson Control, an organization that combatted arson as a method of insurance fraud. A bachelor’s degree in the fire sciences provides students with advanced expertise in the specialized fields such as fire prevention, fire suppression, and arson and incident investigation, which directly impacts the mutual property/casualty insurance industry's fight against arson throughout the United States.
Eligible applicants must be undergraduate students who plan to enroll or are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study related to insurance forensics, arson investigation, or other related fields at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational technical school.

The NAMIC Mutual Insurance Foundation Scholarship is specifically designed for undergraduate students who plan to pursue a career related to the property/casualty insurance industry. The NAMIC Mutual Insurance Foundation Scholarship is looking for dedicated individuals in need of additional funds to complete their studies and join the hundreds of thousands of insurance professionals serving property/casualty policyholders.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT
Applicant Eligibility
Only students who are citizens of the United States and plan to find employment within the property/casualty insurance industry in North America are eligible for the NAMIC Mutual Foundation Insurance Scholarship.
Application Process
Students must comply with all phases of the application process.
- Must be working toward a career in the property/casualty insurance or fire science industry.
- Completion of a 500-word essay describing what the scholarship means to the applicant and why they are interested in a career in the property/casualty insurance or fire science industry. We encourage prior recipients to acknowledge receipt of the scholarship in their essay.
- Digital submission of the application form and uploading all required documents, such as transcripts and letters of recommendation.
