Mutual Director Certification (MDC) Program - Overview


MUTUAL VALUES MEET BOARD EXCELLENCE

NAMIC’S Mutual Director Certification (MDC) program is designed to educate current and aspiring directors about mutuality and the roles and responsibilities of board members of a mutual insurance company. Participants who achieve certification will be recognized as industry-leading directors, demonstrating their commitment to mutual values, ongoing education, and boardroom excellence.

EARNING THE MDC

  • Enroll in the program by submitting an online application
  • Attend NAMIC’S Directors’ Bootcamp 2.0 in-person or virtual conference
    • Event attendance exceptions are available for individuals who have:
      • attended NAMIC’s Directors’ Bootcamp 2.0 in the past five years; or
      • held a senior-level position at a mutual insurance company for at least five years (within the last ten years).
  • Complete the MDC exam with a grade of at least 70 percent

Once an individual applies online, he/she will be enrolled in the MDC program, receive instructions about how to schedule the exam and be given access to the exam study guide.
