Churchill Downs: Known as the home of the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks, Churchill Downs Racetrack conducts Thoroughbred horse racing during three race meets in the Spring, September, and the Fall. The racetrack occupies 147 acres, featuring a one-mile dirt, oval racetrack and a seven furlong turf race course. The backside barns located behind the racetrack house more than 1,400 horses each year.
Kentucky Derby Museum: Located next to Churchill Downs, it’s open year-round. You’ll be planted in the middle of the Derby action while viewing the 360-degree film, “The Greatest Race.” Check out the exhibit spotlighting Triple Crown Winner American Pharoah while you’re there or tour the racetrack with one of the museum’s various tours.
Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory: Take a visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum Factory and learn how the famous bats are made and how baseball has evolved over the years. Louisville Slugger has been MLB’s official bat since 1884 and the museum gives you the opportunity to design your very own and take it home.
