Ohio State Senator Named NAMIC’s 2022 State Legislator of the Year

DALLAS (Sept. 20, 2022) – The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies announced today that Ohio state Sen. George Lang has been named the association’s State Legislator of the Year.

Lang was tapped as the top state legislator for 2022 for his leadership in sponsoring several bills addressing insurance public policy. These bills covered tort reform issues such as third-party litigation funding transparency, asbestos litigation disclosures, and roofing contractor registration. He also sponsored omnibus legislation that included model language for group capital calculation as well as legislation for auto-enrollment in digital communication. Lang is also co-chair of Ohio’s bipartisan Business First Caucus.

Lang is currently serving his first term in the Ohio Senate representing the people of the 4th Senate District, which covers the majority of Butler County. He previously served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives.

“Senator Lang has shown strong leadership on issues affecting insurance public policy throughout his public service career,” said Neil Alldredge, NAMIC’s president and CEO. “He is most deserving of this recognition as his tireless work on so many important pieces of legislation strengthens the insurance market in Ohio to the benefit of both the insurance companies and policyholders. We are proud to present this award for his free-market ideals and his ample insurance knowledge.”

Each year, NAMIC has awarded the State Legislator of the Year to one or more deserving state lawmakers for their support of free-market principles and strong positions to improve the insurance market in their states.
