The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration at the Department of Transportation issued a notice and request for comments Feb. 29 proposing a collection of information “to help ensure that motor carriers of passengers and property maintain the statutorily mandated levels of financial responsibility to operate on public highways.”

The FMCSA wants insurers and company compliance officers to ensure that required documentation is completed and on board with motor carriers. The requirements would apply to the Endorsement for Motor Carrier Policies of Insurance for Public Liability: Forms MCS-90 for property carriers and MCS-90B for passenger carriers, and the Motor Carrier Public Liability Surety Bond: Forms MCS-82 for property carriers and MCS-82B for passenger carriers.

FMCSA is requesting public comments on the notice, and NAMIC will work with any interested members in providing comments.
