The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration at the Department of Transportation issued a notice and request for comments Feb. 16 on a proposed collection from insurance claims data and other sources of commercial motor vehicle driver detention time data.
Detention time refers to the amount of time a driver is detained at a shipper or receiver beyond the agreed-upon appointment time. Comments on this notice must be received on or before March 18, and NAMIC will work with member companies interested in submitting comments.
The collected data would be used to determine the frequency and severity of detention time and assess the utility of existing intelligent transportation systems solutions to measure detention time.
