Certified MIPs are required to pay a renewal fee and attend a qualifying continuing education event every calendar year to remain active in the program. Qualifying CE events include any in-person NAMIC event or the MIP Virtual CE Package.

Grace Periods

Individuals who are not able to complete the renewal requirement within the expected one-year time frame or whose renewal has lapsed by less than 12 months may purchase a grace period to extend their renewal date by one year. MIPs are allowed a maximum of two grace periods throughout the life of their certification. The annual renewal fee is still required regardless of if grace period has been granted.

MIP Virtual CE Package

The MIP Virtual CE Package is the most convenient way to receive your continuing education and includes access to virtual sessions that, once completed, will qualify for your full MIP CE requirement. The annual renewal fee is required in addition to this package.

The 2025 MIP Virtual CE Package includes seven on-demand webinars that can be worked through at your own pace. Participants should plan for 9 total hours to complete the continuing education, which is broken down into the following categories:

  • Leadership Principles
  • Corporate Governance for Mutuals
  • Financial Management for Insurance Professionals
  • Basic Functions of Insurance
    • Underwriting
    • Claims
    • Loss Control
    • Agency Relations
