The following positions are currently available:

Chief Financial Officer

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for Chief Financial Officer, reporting to the President/CEO. The CFO will oversee all finance and accounting related functions for NAMIC, its subsidiaries NSC/NIA, affiliated entities as required. This position will lead financial management in conjunction with the senior executive team and NAMIC Treasurer.

Essential functions include:

  • Directs and oversees the accounting and financial activities of NAMIC and affiliated entities, direct the preparation of current financial reports/forecasts and summaries, and supervise all department personnel.

  • Provides consolidated monthly financial reporting packages with eliminations including a thorough variance analysis.

  • Budget – Oversees annual budget process for NAMIC/affiliates, including review/reports of budgets with managers for completeness, justification, and accuracy. Presents all financial and accounting operations reports to the Audit/Finance Committee and Board of Directors.

  • Financial Management - studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on NAMIC; conducts profitability analysis by department/product/event; advises department on aspects of sources of revenue, control of costs, and profit enhancement; manages assets of the association for liquidity/risk/return expectations.

  • Internal Control/Compliance – Manages internal control system and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, or best practices as well as oversight of internal financial compliance systems for NAMIC, NAMIC PAC, payroll, and benefit trust programs as well as federal and state lobbying. 

  • Treasury – Oversees treasury functions including cash management/investments and coordinates investment policy implementation for NAMIC and affiliated entities and manages bank relationships and accounts for NAMIC and affiliated entities.

  • Tax – Manages tax planning, compliance, reporting, and investigation for NAMIC and affiliated entities.

  • Audit – Manages independent audit process for NAMIC and affiliated entities as required.

  • Billing – Oversees billing/invoicing for NAMIC dues and all other programs and related affiliates invoicing.  Also oversees all collection responsibilities.

  • Related Duties — Continually educates self on accounting and administration practices and issues; provides recommendations for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications include:

  • Public accounting experience required.

  • CPA Certification and progressive work experience demonstrating strong understanding of statement analysis, account budgeting, and forecasting. Minimum 7 years of experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience required.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and PC-based accounting software.

  • Treasury function management experience or knowledge.

  • Membership in AICPA and/or Indiana CPA Society preferred, CAE designation a plus.

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.

Digital Communications Manager

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a full-time opportunity for a Digital Media Manager at our Indianapolis, IN location. This position supports Public Affairs through strategic communication via digital channels, including social media presence, paid campaigns, and visual storytelling creative.

Responsibilities for this position include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Maintains digital communications strategy, including managing social and digital media campaigns in support of public affairs goals. Determines correct targeting of key association audiences by platform.

  • Generates organic social media content and timeline for digital channels, including X, Facebook, and LinkedIn, etc.

  • Manages content promotion and paid ad campaigns on social platforms.

  • Produces infographics and other visual content to promote NAMIC advocacy efforts via multiple communication channels.

  • Maintains metrics-based regular reporting of digital campaign results to association leadership.

  • Drafts content for association publications, convention materials, member communications, policy/issue papers, and more.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience in digital communications or related field.

  • Knowledge of and experience in communicating via social media platforms including X, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Demonstrated leadership of social media and paid digital campaign strategy, as well as graphic design.

  • Firm grasp of metrics-based reporting of digital campaign results.

  • Experience working with media at the local, regional, trade and national levels.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Insurance knowledge a plus, but not required.

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.

Regional Vice President - Great Lakes

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for a Regional Vice President in our State & Policy Affairs Department. This position will effectively represent and advocate for membership interests while working to achieve association advocacy goals and objectives. States covered: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Coordinates and implements issue management for specific advocacy priorities and efforts in assigned states.

  • Develops collaborative working relationships with state insurance trade associations, key state legislators, state insurance department staff, and non-insurance allies on pertinent issues.

  • Manages advocacy communications with member companies on the status of NAMIC strategic objectives in designated states, providing expeditious response to member needs and promoting government affairs priorities and opportunities.

  • Produces and delivers testimony, news releases, speeches, commentary, and NAMIC publications as assigned.

  • Promotes member participation in NAMIC’s Congressional Contact Program and in the NAMIC PAC.

  • Creates regular updates in assigned areas for management report.

  • Shows fiscal responsibility in managing NAMIC budget for designated states.

Qualifications include:

  • Three years of experience in a government affairs function, legislative setting (staff or lobbyist with direct legislator interaction) or working for a trade association preferred.

  • Experience in issue management required.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Familiarity with NCOIL, NCSL, ALEC, NAIC and other organizations affecting state insurance laws and regulations preferred.

  • Ability to travel as much as 50 percent of the time during peak periods (January to June).

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and must possess an acceptable MVR.
