In the wake of inaction from Congress related to artificial intelligence regulation, states have been attempting to fill the perceived regulatory gap, often with bills focused on “high-risk AI” and “algorithmic discrimination.” Insurance departments have also wrestled with what to do in terms of AI regulation, with many discussions focusing on the use of external consumer data/information sources, AI, and potential resulting disproportionate impacts. This webinar will cover what is missing from the lawmaker debates on these topics – the practical implications of imposing algorithmic discrimination-, bias-, and disparate impact-type standards on the risk-based foundation of insurance.
