Biography
Justin Hakes currently leads public affairs for NAMIC. In that capacity, Hakes oversees advocacy communications and public relations activities.
Hakes is a veteran communications and public affairs executive. Prior to joining NAMIC in 2023, Hakes was vice president of communications and public affairs at the Consumer Data Industry Association. Before CDIA, he served in senior roles at several leading trade associations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he spent more than a decade. Hakes’ accomplishments include supporting successful passage of landmark bipartisan federal legislation and serving as editor of an award-winning blog for public policy storytelling.
Hakes graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
