Rhode Island Insurance Bulletin Number 2024-6 provides appointment filing instructions for the implementation of electronic appointments, which must be filed through NIPR’s Insurance Appointment and Termination system beginning Jan. 1, 2025, in accordance with 2024 R.I. Public Laws Ch. 318 and Ch. 319.
In lieu of the March 2025 ACPR filing, the department is requiring all 2024 appointments, even if that producer was subsequently unappointed, to be filed through NIPR’s electronic appointment system between Jan. 1, 2025, and Jan. 31, 2025. The fee for each appointment filing is $15 plus NIPR processing fee All true first-time initial appointments must be made within 15 days from the date the first insurance application is submitted in accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws § 27-2.4-14.1.
Appointment renewals will be due annually on Jan. 31 beginning in 2026. All appointments must be renewed or terminated. The fee for each appointment renewal is $15 plus an NIPR processing fee. Terminations must be made five business days prior to Jan. 31. There is no state fee to terminate an appointment; however, there is an NIPR processing fee. Available appointment termination reasons are included in the bulletin as well as additional instructions for requesting regulatory review of terminated producers.
