SB 37, Crime Counterfeit/Nonfunctioning Airbags, introduced by Sen. Matthew Claman, was amended Feb. 26 with the sponsors support in the House Labor and Commerce Committee. The bill has now been referred to House Rules Committee.
The amended bill adds the following important exemptions to address insurance industry needs:
(3) a person who transfers a vehicle title to an insurance company to satisfy an insurance claim when the insurance company declares the vehicle to be an actual total loss or constructive total loss; or
(4) an insurance company that sells or otherwise disposes of a vehicle as authorized by law or regulation.
