WHY:
The hearing, “The Reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002,” will highlight the importance of TRIA as a critical public-private risk-sharing program. Heck will underscore TRIA’s success in ensuring the availability of terrorism coverage, its role in stabilizing the insurance market, and the need for swift, long-term reauthorization to prevent disruption in commercial projects and policyholder protections.
TRIA’s provisions not only reduce the fear of catastrophic insolvency from terrorist attacks but also help stabilize the broader U.S. economy by allowing construction, real estate development, and other critical industries to move forward with confidence.
