The future of underwriting is not deciding whether one risk should enter the book. The future of underwriting is continuously improving the entire book. A transactional underwriter may ask, “Should I write this risk?” without understanding how the entire book is positioned. Underwriters of the Future are portfolio focused and will be purposed to take the actions necessary to remove a sufficient amount of loss ratio from the entire book. Historically, an underwriter could never monitor every roof, watch every driver, find retention risks, etc. With advanced analytics and AI tools an underwriter can do more now than ever. Now is the time for underwriters to stop reviewing risks and starting directing action sufficient for agents, LOBs, and companies to reach their goals.
During this webinar, attendees will learn how to distinguish transactional underwriting from portfolio underwriting and why the distinction matters; how to identify opportunities for underwriters to create greater business impact beyond individual risk decisions; how AI, analytics, and automation can help shift underwriting teams toward portfolio management; and how to develop a vision for an underwriting function that empowers agents, strengthens books of business, and improves overall portfolio results.
