Biography

Now on his second stint with NAMIC, Paul Martin brings a variety of insurance industry experience. After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in public policy and from the University of Miami School of Law, Martin spent the first few years of his career representing insureds and insurers in an active trial practice, taking several jury trials to verdict. After a dozen years of in-house practice with a Fortune 50 property/casualty insurer, he joined NAMIC as a regional advocate, rising to senior regional vice president. Martin then spent five years with the Reinsurance Association of America, representing the interests of reinsurers doing business in the United States before state legislatures and regulators.

Martin returned to NAMIC in November 2024, this time in the role of vice president of state affairs, where he provides guidance to NAMIC’s regional advocacy team. Licensed to practice law in Florida, Tennessee, and Texas, he frequently speaks on issues impacting the property/casualty industry, including resilience, mitigation, and reinsurance.
