The Indiana House Judiciary Committee passed HB 1160 on Jan. 29, a bill to address commercial cases in third-party litigation funding and defines foreign interests and disclosure requirements. As the Legislature is moving at a rapid pace, the House then unanimously passed the bill over to the Senate on Feb. 1.
Previously, Rep. Matt Lehman passed a TPLF bill based on consumer lending. He will seek to pass the bill onto the Senate and potentially bring the language to NCOIL to create a national model.
Both efforts are supported by NAMIC and the industry.
