Sen. Javier Cervantes filed SB 3213 on Feb. 6, and the companion bill HB 4767 was filed by Rep. Will Guzzardi on Feb 5. When the original HB 2203 was introduced in 2023, Cervantes attended the press conference with Guzzardi, PIRG and the Illinois Coalition for Fair Car Insurance; however, he did not file a bill in the Senate.
The bills are very similar to the HB 2203, including rate review language and prohibitions on more than 15 rating factors. Neither bill has been assigned to a committee yet, but it is expected that they will go to the Insurance committees in their respective chambers.
