DENVER – The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies today presented its esteemed Chair’s Award to Paul Stueven during the association’s 131st Annual Convention. The former CEO of Minnesota-based Fairmont Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, Stueven was recognized for his decades of leadership and service to the mutual property/casualty insurance industry.
“Throughout his career, Paul has been a steady force for serving policyholders, his community, and the mutual property/casualty insurance industry,” said Neil Alldredge, president and CEO of NAMIC. “We are thrilled to give him the recognition he has long deserved.”
Stueven began his career four decades ago as an insurance agent, eventually moving over to the carrier side to lead Fairmont Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. During Paul’s tenure, the company experienced significant growth. A long-time NAMIC member, Stueven served on numerous boards and committees, and as NAMIC board chair in 2015-2016.
With a listen-first approach to decision-making and leadership, Stueven has been a mentor to all who have had the privilege of working alongside him. He retired as CEO of Fairmont Farmers Mutual in 2024 but has been and continues to be a steady presence that has helped shape NAMIC and the mutual property/casualty insurance industry in general.
“Leaders don’t have to be loud to make a difference,” Alldredge said. “Paul’s approach as a company executive, industry leader, and mentor to so many have reflected the spirit of mutuality.”
NAMIC also recognized four individuals during its annual convention for their service to the association and the industry through the NAMIC Service Award:
- LaVawn Coleman, Retired Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Secretary, Grange Insurance;
- Chris Feldt, CEO, Heartland Mutual Insurance Companies;
