Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., the ranking member of the House Financial services Committee issued a request for information on artificial intelligence. She has previously worked with former committee Chair Patrick McHenry on creating a bipartisan AI working group requesting comment from stakeholders.
The current 54-question RFI is focused more on generative and advanced AI systems, and the feedback requested is on the application of current federal laws and regulations related to the use of AI in financial services and any proposed reforms.
A majority of the questions are focused on the following:
- White House actions on AI;
- Anthropic and Open AI;
- Model fairness and explainability;
- Model risk management;
- Data privacy and disclosures;
- Third party service providers;
- Liability;
- Capital markets, investor protection and capital formation;
- Housing;
- National security;
- Export import bank;
- Workforce training;
- AI data centers;
- Financial stability; and
- International development.
There is no mention of the property/casualty insurance industry in the RFI and these questions are more geared towards the recent advanced generative models that have been in recent news.
