Alabama: Enacted HB 351 enacts Alabama’s comprehensive data privacy law, the Alabama Personal Data Protection Act. The enacted bill contains an exception for a financial institution or an affiliate of a financial institution governed by, or personal data collected, processed, sold, or disclosed in accordance with Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

Connecticut: The Connecticut Insurance Department has announced it is co-hosting the third annual Insuring the Future summit, which gathers insurance executives, regulators, and thought leaders in the industry. The summit will address artificial intelligence, affordability pressures, and other global challenges reshaping the risk landscape.

District of Columbia: Enacted B26-0426 amends the Holding Company System Act to update elements of the group capital calculation and the liquidity stress test. The enacted bill also provides additional authority for the insurance commissioner over third parties when an insurer is in a hazardous financial condition or is placed in receivership. The enacted bill will undergo congressional review.

Kentucky: The Kentucky Department of Insurance has issued Bulletin 2026-02 to provide 2026-2027 local government premium tax updates related to forms and documents. The DOI has also released the local government premium tax code descriptions, the local government premium tax schedule, and the local government premium tax listing of payees and addresses for 2026–2027.

Maryland: The Maryland Insurance Administration has issued Bulletin 26-11 to advise that public adjusters may not require, or add provisions in their contracts that require, more onerous burdens on consumers who wish to cancel their contracts within the allotted time. Refer to the bulletin for additional information.

Michigan: The Department of Insurance and Financial Services has issued Bulletin 2026-13-INS announcing the adjustment of the maximum unearned premium refund for the period of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, to $2,063. The bulletin supersedes Bulletin 2025-10-INS dated April 22, 2025.

Minnesota: Enacted SF 3622 amends Minn. Stat. § 515B.3 relating to unit owners’ associations. Section 25 of the enacted bill amends Minn. Stat. § 515B.3-113 relating to insurance requirements for such associations. The amendments address the priority of insurance policies.

Tennessee: Enacted SB 2031 creates a civil cause of action against a healthcare professional by a person who suffered an injury that resulted from certain gender-affirming medical procedures if the reason the person consented to such a procedure was due to coercion.
