SAN DIEGO (Sept. 30, 2025) – The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies announced today that Georgia state Sen. John F. Kennedy has been named the association’s State Legislator of the Year.
Kennedy was tapped as the top state legislator of 2025 for his 10 years of leadership in supporting legislation to improve insurance public policy in Georgia. Kennedy sponsored the cornerstone legislation aimed at curbing legal system abuse in the state, investing more than ten hours of testimony in both chambers. His deep understanding of the issues matched his commitment to collaboration and transparency throughout the debate.
“Senator Kennedy’s efforts will have long-lasting, positive impact on Georgian consumers,” said Neil Alldredge, president and CEO of NAMIC. “His strategic leadership helped secure the votes needed to pass legal reform bills that promote fairness and reduce abusive litigation practices. This commitment reflects the respect he commands among his colleagues and his ability to navigate complex policy landscapes.
As cost pressures including extreme weather, inflation, and regulatory overreach push insurance rates up nationally, Sen. Kennedy’s efforts to stop legal system abuse can bring much needed relief to consumers.
“I am truly honored to be named NAMIC’s 2025 State Legislator of the Year,” said Sen. Kennedy. “The fight to balance Georgia’s civil justice system was made possible through close collaboration with stakeholders across the insurance industry. I am confident this work will deliver significant relief to Georgia businesses and consumers, while further strengthening our state’s pro-business climate.”
Each year, NAMIC awards the State Legislator of the Year recognition to one or more deserving state lawmakers for their support of free-market principles and strong advocacy to improve the insurance market in their states.
