NAMIC Introduces Mutual Benefit Group's CEO as New Chair

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (Sept. 22, 2021) The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies welcomed its new chair, Steven C. Sliver, president and CEO of Mutual Benefit Group, today during the 126th Annual Convention.

Sliver joined the mutual property/casualty insurance industry more than 40 years ago, and he quickly realized working in insurance isn’t a typical career path.

“I am here today because I have been blessed to work for the protections and well-being of countless families, farms, and businesses for more than four decades,” Sliver said during his speech to the NAMIC Convention audience. “In fact, I haven’t really had a career as much as I have followed a calling. Along much of the way, I have benefitted significantly from my association with NAMIC, as has Mutual Benefit.”

Sliver has cited the NAMIC Congressional Contact Program and the education and networking opportunities as some of the ways the association has helped him thrive. NAMIC has benefitted from Sliver’s association with it as well. An active part of the membership since he joined MBG as president in 1992, he has served on numerous NAMIC and NAMIC Insurance Company boards and committees, including acting as NAMIC secretary/treasurer for three years before beginning his rotation of the NAMIC board chairs.

Sliver has appreciated the opportunity to “pay it forward” through service to the NAMIC membership and is excited to continue to do so in his year as chair.

During the next 12 months, Sliver will serve as a leading spokesperson for NAMIC in meetings with legislators, regulators, and other industry stakeholders. He will also meet with fellow mutual insurance industry professionals and NAMIC members during several state association meetings and conventions.
