The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has named John Murphy as its state affairs manager for the Northeast United States. He will represent NAMIC members in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont on legislative matters. Murphy replaces Paul Tetrault, who now serves as NAMIC's state and policy affairs counsel.
State assignments have been reconfigured to accommodate this staff change.
Murphy is an experienced insurance government affairs professional who comes to NAMIC from Hanover Insurance Company, where he served as vice president and counsel. He previously spent six years at the American Insurance Association as regional vice president. While at AIA, Murphy managed the association's government affairs activity in nine states. Prior to this, he spent 15 years at Liberty Mutual.
"John has a well-established reputation in insurance circles and has intimate knowledge of the business and political climates throughout the Northeast," said Joe Thesing, NAMIC's vice president of state affairs. "He is going to be a tremendous asset to NAMIC members."
