Re: Wisconsin AB 81 (Consumer Protection From Storm Scammers)

“Wisconsin placed a large ‘Storm Scammers Not Welcome Sign’ on the state’s border Friday when Governor Scott Walker signed the bi-partisan Assembly Bill 81 to increase protections for consumers from scam artists who prey on vulnerable citizens after natural disasters.

“AB 81 enhances consumer protections in several ways, with the most important being a new requirement that allows insureds who were victimized by a high-pressure sales pitch to cancel the contract for unneeded repairs within three business days of learning that the claim for the repairs was not covered.”

Note: With its enactment, AB 81 is now known as Act 24.
