At 10:00 am EDT, Rod Matthews, P&C Operations Vice President from State Farm Insurance Companies will be testifying at a House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee hearing on H.R. 2069, the Safe Building Codes Incentive Act. The NAMIC-led BuildStrong Coalition has made this bill the most widely supported natural disaster mitigation proposal in Congress while building industry and key stakeholder support at the same time. This is the first time Congress has ever held a hearing specifically focused on the need for stronger building codes.

A live webcast of this hearing will be available at http://transportation.house.gov

At 2:00 this afternoon, NAMIC President and CEO Charles M. Chamness will appear before the House Financial services Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community opportunity to give the property/casualty insurance industry’s perspective on the effects of the Dodd-Frank Act after two-years, and our concerns going forward. Chamness will explain the role of mutual insurers and the property/casualty industry as a pillar of the economy and outline the threats to the industry from the growth of new agencies created by Dodd-Frank, as well as the impact that future regulatory uncertainty is already having on insurers across the country.

A live webcast of the hearing can be found on the committee’s website
