North Carolina House OK's Beach Plan Legislation; Next Stop Senate

The North Carolina House of Representatives yesterday passed legislation to reform the state's "Beach Plan." The bill now moves to the Senate for its consideration.

NAMIC's North Carolina member companies are to be congratulated on a job well done in assisting in the passage of this important legislation. NAMIC distributed a member alert last week requesting that members organize their grassroots activists to contact their legislators asking for a "Yes" vote on the legislation.

While this is not a perfect bill, we have a golden opportunity to make far-reaching, long-term changes to improve North Carolina’s coastal insurance market for property/casualty insurance companies and consumers throughout the state. NAMIC will continue to work with legislators in the weeks ahead to work out some questions we have about this bill.

Direct questions to NAMIC State Affairs Manager Liz Reynolds.
