Medical Liability Insurers Express Short-term Optimism, Long-term Concern for Competitive Pressures

U.S. medical professional liability insurers anticipate their primary rate levels to decrease in 2008 when compared to 2007, while the average frequency and severity of claims sustained by their firms will remain about the same as last year, according to a survey of medical liability insurance executives conducted by reinsurance broker Collins. The survey was conducted at Collins' seventh annual Medical Liability Insurance Networking Forum in Las Vegas.
