(Medical Malpractice Reporting Requirements)

Establishes additional (claims) reporting requirements for insurers writing medical malpractice coverage. Effective 7/1/05. Chapter 196, Laws of 2005.

Rate Regulation

Establishes additional (flex band) rating procedures for rate changes setting forth hearing requirements for rate changes that exceed 20% and revising provisions pertaining to renewal of professional malpractice liability coverage. Effective 2/25/05. Chapter 145, Laws of 2005.

Tort Reform

(Medical Service Providers)

SF 83

Extends immunity from civil prosecution to physicians serving as medical directors of ambulance services, to hospitals and hospital employees for clinical training activities for emergency medical service classes, and to students participating in emergency medical service training. Effective 2/24/05. Chapter 112, Laws of 2005.

Revises criteria for jurisdicational limits based on dollar value of claims. Effective 7/1/05.

Changes provisions regarding rate manipulation, premiums, preauthorization of nonemergency care and clarifies certain definitions. Effective 7/1/05. Chapter 185, Laws of 2005.
