San Antonio’s River Walk, Spanish colonial architecture, and fountain-laden parks and plazas make it one of America’s most picturesque cities. Today, this seventeenth century metropolis is the seventh largest city in the nation with contemporary venues and lavish accommodations, all while maintaining an old world heritage exuded through diverse artistry, ethnic cuisine and an intimate and exquisite culture. With 300 days of sunshine a year, San Antonio is an ideal destination year round. Use the links below to learn more about the wonderful city of San Antonio and all there is to do and see there.
The River Walk
San Antonio recently began a $345 million improvement project to lengthen the River Walk from two to 13 miles—making it the nation’s largest linear park. Currently, the River Walk runs through the heart of downtown connecting shopping, dining, hotels and historic landmarks. The planned extension will join the original River Walk to San Antonio’s museums, the historic Pearl Brewery and cultural attractions to the north by 2009 as well as to the city’s four Spanish colonial missions to the south by 2014.
Fiesta® San Antonio
One of America’s truly great festivals, Fiesta® San Antonio takes place every April to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and Battle of San Jacinto and to celebrate San Antonio’s rich diverse cultures. This year marks the celebration’s 117th anniversary. Fiesta takes place over 10 days with approximately 100 events and 97 non-profit member organizations participating. This year’s festival takes place April 17-26, 2009 and will draw nearly 3.5 million visitors. For more information and tickets to Fiesta events, please visit http://www.fiesta-sa.org.
