General Session - Farm Mutual Roadmap Update The NAMIC Farm Mutual Conference Board recently formed a task force to identify the key challenges that face this market segment, the opportunities that lie ahead, and the strategic initiatives that must be undertaken to not only insure the survival, but also the vitality of this industry segment well into the current century. As a result, three areas were identified and deemed critical to farm mutual companies: reinsurance, product development, and human capital. This session will provide a brief overview of the progress of this essential roadmap project.

Elise Farnham, CPCU, ARM, AIM, CPIW, President Illimune Consulting Grantville, Ga. - PFMM Advanced – Succession Planning
If you haven’t been stuck in an airport lately, you may have missed the statistics and headlines over the past five years which have shown a high failure rate among CEOs for companies of all sizes. You also may not realize that one in five senior executives in Fortune 500 companies are eligible to retire now as well as 50% of the US government workforce. With the pressures of our declining economy, global competition, and a potential transition in our political landscape, leaders in all industries have largely been unable to adequately find and prepare competent successors. This session will help you understand succession planning and identify the right successors early to increase the chances that a successful transition will occur. A comprehensive, systems approach to succession planning and management will be introduced along with key trends and concepts to help you see SP&M as more than replacement planning.
