    This presentation will review the good, the bad, and the faulty electrical systems found in dwellings and outbuildings. Numerous pictures from actual inspections will be used to show what is considered acceptable electrical installations, as well as poor/faulty installations. Attendees will be able to apply this information to future inspections, to help identify potential hazardous installations, and respond accordingly to reduce and/or eliminate the potential hazardous exposure. Underwriting staff will also find this information helpful when reviewing inspection reports and/or recommendations.

    This presentation will introduce the participant to some of the more common terms, equipment and problems that can occur on large or complex electrical systems. As barns get larger, their electrical systems grow in complexity and size. This can cause some serious concerns and it is something that loss prevention staff members need to be aware of and deal with properly. Topics will include arc flash potential, approach distances, transformers, generators, transfer switches and common wiring issues.
