Tort reform - medical malpractice

Changes the laws regarding medical malpractice insurance and the enforcement powers of the Department of Insurance and creates the Health Care Stabilization Fund Feasibility Board. Effective: Aug. 28, 2006.

SB 837

Corporate governance - jurisdictional authority

Modifies the requirements for board membership of the State Health Insurance Pool, the state Basic Property Insurance Inspection and Placement Program and the state Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association. Effective: Aug. 28, 2006.

SB 872

Motor vehicle insurance - traffic safety

Enacts various provisions relating to the safe operation of motor vehicles to ensure the safety of highway workers, emergency workers and other motorists. Effective: Varies.

SB 1001

Motor vehicle insurance - teen drivers

Modifies lawful presence requirements for driver's licenses, modifies graduated driver's license law and allows the Highway Commission to revoke licenses and registrations of motor carriers in certain circumstances. Effective: June 14, 2006.
