Motor vehicle insurance - traffic offenses

Relates to offenses and penalties for violation of vehicle weight limitations; prohibits the use of a violation of a vehicle weight limitation for certain personal automobile insurance actions. Effective: July 3, 2006.

Policy forms filings

Allows insurance policies to be filed and approved in languages other than English if an official English language version is also filed; authorizes use of insurance policy forms and associated materials in languages other than English. Effective: Nov. 8, 2006.

Workers' compensation - contractor requirements

Provides that a person working as a qualified real estate licensee who performs services under a written contract that provides that the person will not be treated as an employee for federal income tax or workers' compensation purpose shall be exempt from workers compensation coverage. Effective: Oct. 4, 2006.

Motor vehicle insurance - traffic safety

Relates to motor vehicle safety belt violations on highways; amends provisions regarding operators or passengers of motorcycles, motor-driven cycles, off-highway vehicles, electric personal mobility vehicles, snowmobiles and similar vehicles not designed to be operated on a highway. Effective: May 1, 2006.

Workers' compensation - state oversight

Extends the date by which the Task Force on Workers' Compensation shall report its findings and the termination date of that task force; provides for an effective date. Effective date: March 17, 2006.

Fees

Relates to payment of insurer examination expenses, managed care plans, insurer documentation, agents, third-party administrators, eligibility of surplus lines insurers, suitability of life and health insurance policies, annuity contracts, discrimination, prompt payment of claims, reporting requirements, deferred annuities, mental health insurance, title insurance limited producers, small employer health insurance and Service member's group life insurance premiums. Effective: dates vary.
