Changing Alien Reinsurers' Collateral Requirements: Lots of Questions, Pro and Con, and a Few Answers

On Tuesday, Sept. 19, NAMIC will host a panel discussion at its 111th Annual Convention in Tampa, Fla., for discussion and debate of the full-collateral requirements now required of alien reinsurers and whether they should be changed. A proposal for change of those collateral requirements is now pending in a committee of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and has fractured the industry between those who want full collateral and those who don't. NAMIC's expert panel should be able to identify the issues on alien collateral and provide powerful advocacy on behalf of both sides.
