Glen Johnson Recognized as NAMIC Chairman’s Award Winner

ATLANTA (Sept. 23, 2009) – Glen Johnson, the retired president of the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association in Cambridge, Ontario was honored with the 2009 Chairman’s Award by the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC).

Johnson was presented the award by NAMIC’s 2008-2009 chairman Bruce Thomas during its Annual Convention in Atlanta. A native of Cambridge, Ontario, Johnson joined the OMIA in 1977. Since then, he has worked to promote farm mutuals and brought companies together to raise the profile of mutual insurance. Among his efforts was the creation of a symbol featuring a black “M” and a maple leaf that Canadian mutual companies can use alongside their own logos on stationary and signage to identify them as mutuals.

“NAMIC created this award to recognize leadership, accomplishment and outstanding service to our industry and the community,” said Thomas. “Glen Johnson embodies every one of these traits, and we are proud to honor him with the Chairman’s Award.”

NAMIC also honored others for their service with awards. “Each year, NAMIC honors members who display leadership qualities through NAMIC committee and board membership, who have made contributions to their state associations and the insurance industry and who have served their communities,” Thomas said.

The Service Award winners are:

• Glenn Lambert, PFMM, general manager, Cascade Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, Great Falls, Mont.
• Marcus Marsh, legislative affairs manager, Minnesota Association of Farm Mutual Insurance Companies, St. Joseph, Minn.
• David Hill, vice president and counsel, State Farm Mutual Insurance Company, Bloomington, Ill.
• Dr. Robert Hartwig, CPCU, president, Insurance information Institute, New York, N.Y.
