Details: In his first major address to an insurance industry audience since the AIG financial crisis, New York’s chief insurance regulator will speak to attendees gathered for the annual meeting of property/casualty insurers. Dinallo, who played a critical role in negotiations to salvage AIG, has said the AIG problem was with exotic investment instruments and with the federal regulation of the holding company, not with state insurance regulation. He has emphasized that the insurance units are solvent and policyholders are secure. Mr. Dinallo has also been an active supporter of reforms in the New York market and has taken a leadership role on insurance regulation nationally.
