GRAPEVINE, Texas (Sept. 19, 2007) – The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) presented the 2007 Service Awards today to the association’s members who have made significant contributions to NAMIC and the mutual insurance industry. The presentations were made during NAMIC's annual business meeting, held in conjunction with the trade association's 112th Annual Convention in Grapevine, Texas.
Darwin Copeman, president/CEO, Cameron Mutual Insurance Companies, Cameron, Mo.
Copeman is the 2007-2008 chair-elect of the Property Casualty Conference. He also serves on the convention planning committee and is a member of the farm mutual roadmap task force. Copeman also serves as a board member of NAMICO, the Arkansas Earthquake Authority, the Missouri Fair Plan, and the Missouri Insurance Coalition. He is a regular discussion leader at NAMIC's CEO Roundtables, panelist at various NAMIC events, and NAMIC representative industry events. He is also active with the Cameron Economic Development organization.
Patrick Faga, president/CEO, Central Iowa Mutual Insurance Association, Story City, Iowa
Faga serves on NAMIC’s Farm Mutual Conference board of directors and pension administrative committee. He is also a member of NAMIC's Merit Society. Faga has served as both a presenter and moderator at NAMIC's CEO Roundtables meetings and participates in the Congressional Contact Program. He served on the board of directors of the Mutual Insurance Association of Iowa from 2003-2006.
Wes Gainey, president, Minnesota Association of Farm Mutual Insurance Companies, St. Joseph, Minn.
As president of MAFMIC for the past two years, Gainey has been a featured speaker at many MAFMIC company annual meetings. Minnesota has been a battleground for “bad faith” legislation, and Gainey helped organize the successful grassroots campaign against this proposal. Before joining MAFMIC in 2005, Gainey was NAMIC’s Farm Mutual Conference director. He currently serves on NAMIC's advisory council.
Wilbur J. Maas, secretary/treasurer, Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Hull, Iowa
Maas served on NAMIC’s pension administrative committee and Farm Mutual Conference board of directors. He has received the NAMIC Merit Award and the Professional Farm Mutual Manager designation. During the past 30 years, Maas has served on several state association committees and in various roles with the Mutual Insurance Association of Iowa.
