Gibbel Receives 2004 NAMIC Chairman's Award
WASHINGTON D.C. (Sept. 20, 2004)--The Chairman's Award of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Cos. (NAMIC), was presented to Henry H. Gibbel, president of Lititz Mutual Insurance Company, Lititz, Penn., during the Opening General Session of the association's 109th Annual Convention. The award recognizes leadership, accomplishment and outstanding service to NAMIC and the insurance industry.
"Henry Gibbel has served the mutual insurance industry with integrity since he was first appointed as CEO of Lititz Mutual Insurance Co. upon the death of his father," said F. Timothy Hegarty, chairman of NAMIC. "He has been a faithful supporter of NAMIC, having attended every NAMIC convention since that time. He served on the NAMIC board for 16 years and presided over the Hawaii convention in 1982 as its chairman."
Gibbel was a founding member of the NAMIC Insurance Co. (NAMICO) and served on its board from 1986 to 1996. He is president of Affiliated Mutual Insurance Cos., Penn Charter Mutual Insurance Co., Farmers' & Mechanics Mutual Insurance Co. and Livingston Mutual Insurance Co. He is also of Excess Reinsurance Company, Philadelphia, Pa. He is a member of the Board of Mutual Aid Association Church of the Brethren, Abilene, Kan.
The recipient of numerous other honors in the mutual insurance industry, he received the NAMIC service award in 1969, and the Distinguished Service Award of the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Cos. (PAMIC) in 1981. Gibbel also served PAMIC as secretary/treasurer and 1969 president. In 1988, he received the Insurance Person of the Year award in recognition of outstanding service to the insurance community, given by the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. He earned the NAMIC Merit Award in 1993.
