NAMIC Names Tetrault State and Policy Affairs Counsel

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has named Paul Tetrault to the position of state and policy affairs counsel.

Tetrault has served as Northeast state affairs manager for NAMIC for more than six years. In his new position, his duties will include regulatory issue management, legal analysis, and public policy development in support of NAMIC's State and Policy Affairs Department. He will be part of NAMIC's team responsible for covering developments at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and will also serve as liaison to national legislative organizations on tort reform and civil-justice-related matters. Tetrault will continue to be based in the Boston area and will cover legislative and regulatory issues in Massachusetts.

Prior to joining NAMIC, Tetrault practiced law at a Boston law firm, where he concentrated on litigation defense and insurance coverage matters, and he served as a judicial law clerk at the Massachusetts Appeals Court upon his graduation from law school in 2003. Before that, Tetrault spent 11 years as a writer and editor at The Standard, a 130-year-old trade publication covering the insurance industry in New England.

Tetrault is a graduate of Villanova University and Suffolk University Law School and holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation conferred by the American Institute for CPCU as well as the Associate in Risk Management and Associate in Management designation from the Insurance Institute of America.

Tetrault has written columns, opinion, and analytical articles about insurance issues that have appeared in daily newspapers and trade journals including The Providence Journal, the Insurance Journal, the CPCU eJournal, and American Agent & Broker magazine.
