Tennessee: NAMIC Petitions for Hearing on Rule
NAMIC filed a petition last week in Tennessee for a hearing with the Department of Safety. In proposed rule number 4456, the DOS is advocating a change to the costs of motor vehicle records. (Posted: 11/17/2009)

Tennessee Members in Washington for 2009 CCP
On July 14th, NAMIC member companies from Tennessee came to Washington DC to participate in the 2009 Congressional Contact Program. They took part in Tennessee Tuesday, a breakfast event hosted by Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., every Tuesday for their constituents. By the end of the day the group met with every office in their state delegation and delivered 2 Benjamin Franklin Public Policy awards. (Posted: 7/28/2009)
For the second year in a row the vehicles most likely to collide with a deer are in West Virginia. Using its deer claims data from the last half of 2007 and the first half of 2008 and motor vehicle registration counts by state from the Federal Highway Administration, State Farm estimates the chances of a West Virginia vehicle colliding with a deer during the next 12 months at 1 in 45. Tennessee: Insurance Department Releases Overview of Changes for Insurance Producers
Commissioner Leslie Newman addressed changes affecting insurance producers licensed in Tennessee in an Aug. 21 bulletin. Among the changes are a shift of the renewal date for producer licenses, expansion of continuing education requirements, and changes to fees allowable for sale, solicitation, negotiation, and referral. New Study Suggests Putting Off Driver Licensure to Save Lives
Most U.S. states allow driving at age 16, 16-and-a-half, or somewhere in between. A new Insurance Institute for Highway Safety report focuses on the costs in terms of lives of allowing licensure sooner rather than later. (Posted: 9/9/2008)

Report: 33 Million Licensed Americans May be Unfit for Roads
