Rhode Island: Governor Refuses to Veto Adverse Appraisal Mandate Bill

Despite imploring from NAMIC and a wide range of industry representatives, as well as the recommendation of the governor’s own advisory panel for insurance issues, Gov. Rhode Island: Supreme Court Agrees With DBR, Insurers’ Position on Labor Rate Statute

The Rhode Island Supreme Court last week issued its highly anticipated decision in the dispute between insurers and auto body shops over the meaning of a statute requiring insurers to conduct a labor rate survey, ruling against the auto body association and agreeing with the positions asserted by insurers and the Department of Business Regulation. Arkansas and Rhode Island in Washington for 2010 CCP

On May 6, NAMIC members from Arkansas and Rhode Island were in Washington D.C to meet with members of their state’s delegation from both the House and the Senate. The day on Capitol Hill was a busy one with the financial services regulatory reform floor debate under way in the Senate, but the groups had successful meetings throughout.
