For the second year in a row the vehicles most likely to collide with a deer are in West Virginia. Using its deer claims data from the last half of 2007 and the first half of 2008 and motor vehicle registration counts by state from the Federal Highway Administration, State Farm estimates the chances of a West Virginia vehicle colliding with a deer during the next 12 months at 1 in 45. Iowa: Insurance Division Announces New Rebating Bulletin, Conducts Hearing on Model Audit Rule
NAMIC’s trade association partner, the Iowa Insurance Institute, reports that the Iowa Insurance Division published Bulletin 08-15 on Sept. 20 dealing with rebating. The III also stated that the division conducted a hearing that same day on its proposed version of the NAIC’s Sarbanes-Oxley-based Model Audit Rule. (Posted: 10/7/2008)
Bruce D. Thomas Begins Term as 2008 - 2009 NAMIC Chairman
PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 1, 2008) – Bruce D. Thomas was elected 2008-2009 chairman of the board of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) here today, during NAMIC’s Annual Convention. New Study Suggests Putting Off Driver Licensure to Save Lives

Iowa: Insurance Division Rescinds Broad Anti-rebating Bulletin, Issues New Bulletin
NAMIC’s trade association partner, the Iowa Insurance Institute, reports that the Iowa Insurance Division rescinded Bulletin 08-11, which had interpreted the state’s anti-rebating law to forbid the providing to customers of goods or services not specifically provided for in the policy, including those not before seen as rebates. Last week, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, announced he would co-sponsor S-2040 to increase the small property/casualty insurance company investment income election. Harkin’s decision was a direct result of his meeting with participants of NAMIC's Congressional Contact Program. (Posted: 7/29/2008)
Iowa Bulletin Prohibits All Rebates
