NAMIC’s state trade association advocacy partner, the Iowa Insurance Institute, reports that the Iowa House passed SF 2075, which adds what is often called the “extraordinary life circumstances” provision to the state statute that regulates the use of credit-based insurance scoring. NAMIC, along with member companies and representatives of its state trade association advocacy partners, the Iowa Insurance Institute and the Mutual Insurance Association of Iowa, attended a presentation Dec. 15 by academic researchers from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, on their paper “Use of Credit Scores by the Insurance Industry: Iowa Consumers’ Perspective.” The presentation was conducted by video conference between two cities, Davenport and Des Moines. Iowa Members in Washington for 2009 CCP
On July 16th, NAMIC member companies from Iowa came to Washington DC to participate in the 2009 Congressional Contact Program. Founded in 1885 in Story City, Iowa, Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company was created to protect farm property and town dwellings throughout the state.
