California in Washington for 2010 CCP

California: PIFC Supports Consumer Protection Bill to Prevent Auto Body Repair Fraud
NAMIC’s national insurer state advocacy partner, the Personal Insurance Federation of California, submitted a position letter June 18 to the Assembly Business, Professions, and Consumer Protection Committee supporting SB 427 Automotive Repair: Crash Parts. SB 427 was heard in committee June 22 and passed the committee on a 6-2-2 vote. (Posted: 6/29/2010)
NAMIC, in conjunction with its domestic insurer state advocacy partner, the Pacific Association of Domestic Insurance Companies, and its national insurer state advocacy partner, the Personal Insurance Federation of California, submitted comments earlier this month to the California Department of Insurance in opposition to the Proposed Principally At-Fault Regulations. Insurance Referendum Highlights Today’s 12 State Primaries
A California referendum on auto insurance persistency discounts will be watched closely today by insurance industry observers as 12 states hold primary elections. (Posted: 6/8/2010)
NAMIC submitted written comments to and testified at the California Department of Insurance rulemaking hearing May 17 on the proposed regulations to homeowners’ insurance estimating replacement cost standards. On April 2, the California Department of Insurance filed its Notice of Proposed Action on REG 2010-00001 and its Proposed Regulations on Standards and Training for Estimating Replacement Value on Homeowners’ Insurance. California: NAMIC Joins PADIC, PIFC in Opposing Car-Sharing Legislation
NAMIC joined its domestic insurer state advocacy partner, the Pacific Association of Domestic Insurance Companies, April 28 in submitting a letter of opposition to AB 1871, Personal Vehicle Sharing, to the Assembly Insurance Committee. NAMIC’s national insurer state advocacy partner, the Personal Insurance Federation of California, also filed a letter of opposition with the bill. A public hearing on the bill is scheduled for May 5. The California Department of Insurance last week filed its Notice of Proposed Action on REG 2010-00001 and its Proposed Regulations on Standards and Training for Estimating Replacement Value on Homeowners’ Insurance. A public rulemaking hearing is scheduled for May 17 at 10 a.m. PDT at the Department of Insurance Hearing Room, 300 South Spring Street, Los Angeles. Written comments are due by 5 p.m. on May 17.
