NAMIC Submits Written Testimony in Opposition to Hawaii’s No-Fault Insurance Electronic Verification Reporting Bill

HB 157 is a no-fault insurance electronic verification reporting bill with the stated purpose of reducing traffic congestion in the state. NAMIC pointed out in its fact sheet to the committee that there is no evidence to support the contention that an implemented electronic insurance verification system will or even could reduce traffic congestion.

“NAMIC also argued that insurers already report uninsured motorists to the state, and law enforcement officers already fine drivers who do not comply with compulsory auto insurance, so the bill will do nothing more than create an unworkable, impractical, and ineffective bureaucracy that will increase administrative costs for insurers and county agencies."
