RE: Passage of Florida PIP Reform

"We commend the efforts of Governor Rick Scott, CFO Jeff Atwater, Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty, and Insurance Consumer Advocate Robin Westcott to build the case for PIP reform and continue the pressure for meaningful change throughout the legislative process. The bill would have died on several occasions if not for the stellar debate and negotiation skills demonstrated by Representative Jim Boyd, Representative Bryan Nelson, Senator Garrett Richter, and Senator Joe Negron, along with the support of Senate President Mike Haridopolos, Speaker Dean Cannon, and other legislative leaders.

"PIP reform was a brutal, hard-fought battle in both the Florida House and Senate, right down to the final day of session. While the final PIP legislation does not contain every measure needed to fight PIP fraud and abuse, it is still a win for companies writing auto business in Florida and especially a victory for the policyholders they represent."
