"After subscribing, I received an e-mail that states 'no items qualified for your report'."
Depending on your selections, it is possible to receive a "blank" e-mail from the system. This is especially true if you have selected states in which no recent legislative or regulatory activity related to your chosen topics has occurred. The system will send a "no items qualified for your report" message to you, just to let you know that a search was made.
"I signed up for e-mail delivery of alerts, but have not received anything yet."
The system sends messages to you according to the frequency that you selected when signing up. Options are: daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly. Weekly and bi-weekly reports are sent on Mondays and monthly reports are sent the first Monday of the month.
If you are not receiving e-mails from the system at the desired frequency, it is possible that your messages are being blocked by your company's anti-spam or anti-virus software. In order to successfully receive alerts from LARIS, you will need to do one of the following:
"I received a message with a file attachment named 'CT_CF_Drop_2.txt' What does this mean?"
This message indicates that your e-mail anti-virus system has removed the contents of the LARIS alert. Ask your system administrator to allow HTML messages from laris@namic.org, or change your preference to "Text Only" by visiting the LARIS section of NAMIC Online.
"I bookmarked the LARIS reports page, but get an error (403 Referrer) when I try to access it. Why?"
You must visit the LARIS launch page on NAMIC Online prior to accessing reports or your e-mail profile. This is due to the way that the pages are protected for NAMIC members only. If you would like to bookmark a page to speed your access to LARIS, please use http://www.namic.org/laris/launch.asp.
"My Legislative Alert E-Mail contains a bill with a 'old' status date. Why was this included if no recent activity has occurred?"
New topics and sub-topics are periodically added to the LARIS system. The search strategy and screening guidelines are designed to make sure all existing bills as well as future legislation is captured. Since LARIS is continuously updated to accommodate new issues, members will occasionally see bills that are dated but new to the tracking file.
"I noticed on the NAMIC website that LARIS provides access to changes in regulations, as well as laws. That's great! However, when I go in to set up my personal profile, I have to check one or the other--either legislation or regulation. I need both. What should I do?"
In effect, LARIS subscribers have two profiles to manage: 'Legislation' and 'Regulations'. You can only view/edit one of these profiles at a time. An option is available on the first screen to select which profile you want to view/edit. Once you have them both set up, you will receive both legislative AND regulatory updates according to the schedule and criteria that you have specified.
How do I stop the delivery of LARIS e-mail alerts?
LARIS alerts can be stopped by following these steps.
