He said it. Analyze the quote however you want, but it's there to be analyzed. In a 1989 interview with Wolf Blitzer, former Vice President Al Gore said, "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." No, he didn't invent the Internet, and yes, the quote has been used and misinterpreted at Mr. Gore's expense.
