San Diego Transportation Info

Delegates get a bird's-eye view of downtown as planes land at San Diego International airport. The easy accessibility of the San Diego International Airport is just the beginning when it comes to the county's sophisticated transportation system. Served by airlines with direct flights from most major hubs, the airport is modern, efficient, and convenient. Shuttles, taxis, and private limousines are available.

Ground Transportation

Airport Shuttles
Shuttle service is available at the transportation plazas across from the San Diego Airport Terminals 1 and 2, and curbside at the Commuter Terminal. Several shuttle companies with vans and buses are also available for hire from the airport.

Car Rental
San Diego's Airport is served by all major car rental agencies. Car rental reservation boards are located near the baggage claim areas of Terminal 1 and 2. Visitors can request shuttle transportation to the car rental company of their choice by using convenient courtesy phones.

Taxis
Many companies provide taxicab service at the San Diego International Airport. Signage leads visitors from the gate to the transportation plazas, where a transportation coordinator places visitors with the first available taxi (unless they specify a particular taxicab company). The airport is conveniently located just two to three miles from various areas of downtown San Diego.

San Diego Trolley
You can't miss the bright red trolley cars that crisscross San Diego's downtown area and beyond. The trolley provides convenient service from various points downtown and from Mission Valley hotels to the San Diego Convention Center.

Limousines and Town Cars
Many limousine companies provide service from San Diego International Airport.

From San Diego International Airport (Lindbergh Field): approximately 3 miles
When exiting the terminals, follow the signs to downtown San Diego and Interstate 5. Stay in the right lane; this will deposit you onto North Harbor Drive. Continue south on North Harbor Drive approximately three miles along the waterfront. Go one block past the Seaport Village entrance (Kettner Boulevard). Turn right at Market Place into the hotel's main entrance.

From Points North:
Take I-5 South toward San Diego. Exit at Front Street (exit 17) toward the Civic Center. Continue straight to Front Street, and then turn right onto West Market Street.

From Points South:
Take I-5 North to Cesar E. Chavez Parkway (exit 14B). Turn left onto Cesar E. Chavez Parkway. Take a right onto East Harbor Drive, and then a left onto Market Street.

From Points East:
Take I-8 West to CA125 toward CA94. Keep left to take CA94W. Turn left on 17th Street, and then right onto Market Street.

From Points West:
Follow Harbor Drive east along San Diego Bay to downtown. Harbor Drive intersects with Market Street.
