Fun Run Walk to Benefit St. Baldrick's Foundation
Tuesday, September 30, 6:00 to 8:00 a.m.
Are you ready for an early rise-and-shine before Day 2 of Convention? This is a great way to get a little fresh air and some exercise to benefit a good cause. The fourth annual running of the Auxiliary Fun Run Walk will take place one of the most scenic spots im the Greater Philadelphia area along Kelly Drive, which stretches from the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the Twin Bridges near Manayunk. One side is bordered by the Schuylkill River, and the other side by Philadelphia's beautiful Fairmont Park.
Participants can choose between a 5K run and a 3K walk. Top finalists in each category will receive ribbons. All participants will receive commemorative T-shirts. Registration cost is $35 per person. Add this to your registration online. Proceeds from this event will benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
Tentative Agenda
St. Baldrick's is about shaving your head in solidarity of children who lose their hair during cancer treatment. It all began in 1999, when three insurance executives turned their industry's St. Patrick's Day party into a benefit for kids with cancer. They turned heads - and opened wallets - of colleagues for the benefit of children's cancer research. Between 2000 and 2006, more than $20 million has been raised and more than 26,000 heads have been shaved!
19th Annual IEI Golf Classic
The 19th Annual IEI Golf Classic will be held at the Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown, New Jersey. This Stephen Kay design, just 15 minutes from downtown Philadelphia, was carved out of an abandoned rock and gravel quarry. One of the newest courses in the mid-Atlantic region, Scotland Run has quickly earned a world-class reputation. Golf Digest rates the course at 4 1/2-stars and Business Week Magazine named it the #1 Public Course to Entertain Clients in the Philadelphia Region. The course plays 6,810 yards from the tips, and numerous bunkers, tight fairways, and sand cliffs border several holes. Always in outstanding condition, Scotland Run Golf Club is a thinking player's golf course. You just can't stand on the tee and grip it and rip it. It should be great fun.
The Griffith Foundation for Insurance Education of Columbus, Ohio, and the Insurance Education Institute of Indianapolis, Indiana, signed an agreement to merge effective January 1, 2008. The newly formed Griffith Insurance Education Foundation will provide risk management and insurance education programs and resources to students, educators and public policymakers.
